Why We Created These Trails
Carrowmore is unlike anywhere else. It's not just a collection of stones — it's a 5,000-year-old conversation with Ireland's earliest inhabitants. We're talking about over 30 megalithic monuments spread across a landscape that's been shaped by both nature and human hands since the Neolithic period.
When we started working with seniors in the region, we noticed something: most of them had walked past these sites their entire lives without truly understanding what they were looking at. Some felt too uncertain to explore on their own. Others didn't know where to start. That's where nylonhookloop Digital Ltd came in. We didn't want to create another generic walking tour. We wanted to build something that actually connects people — especially those in their later years — to the archaeology, the history, and the physical beauty of these places.
So we mapped the routes. We consulted with archaeologists. We tested the paths ourselves. And we created something that works for different fitness levels, because everyone deserves access to this heritage.
